Puma Sales Sour in China Thanks to BLACKPINK Rosé’s Influence

Puma experienced a significant increase in sales in China after they announced Rosé, a member of BLACKPINK, as their newest brand ambassador.

On June 17, 2024, Puma officially declared Rosé as their new global brand ambassador. According to their announcement, Rosé will be utilizing her vision, voice, and distinctive perspectives in Puma’s worldwide campaigns and storytelling. As the ambassador for Puma, Rosé will promote their current and upcoming releases, as well as lend her support to the brand’s “Rewrite the Classics”initiative.

Maria Valdes, Puma’s Chief Product Officer, expressed her excitement about Rosé joining the Puma family, stating, “Rosé’s significant impact on music, fashion, and culture worldwide is truly inspiring. We are thrilled to collaborate with her and utilize her expertise and creativity to redefine our traditional space. We are delighted to have her as part of our Puma family and look forward to achieving great success together.”

Rosé becomes an ambassador for Puma, joining the ranks of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Dua Lipa, and Skepta.

Following the announcement of Rosé as Puma’s brand ambassador, the brand experienced a significant increase in sales. This was particularly evident in China, where Puma topped the list of sneaker sales on Douyin (Chinese TikTok), with over 56,000 units sold.

Furthermore, the Puma Paleromo, the same sneaker line worn by Rosé in her Puma promotional video, has completely sold out in China. This includes not only Douyin, but also other widely used online shopping platforms like Tmall and JD.

Fans of the BLACKPINK member are using social media to share their purchase receipts, demonstrating their unwavering support for the idol. This highlights Rosé’s incredible selling power in the country in just a week.
