On Saturday, August 31, 2024, the official website and X (previously known as Twitter) account for the Puniru wa Kawaii Slime anime released the second promotional video and a new visual, revealing that the series will debut on October 6, 2024. Additionally, the official staff announced the addition of more cast members to the series.
The Puniru wa Kawaii Slime anime is an adaptation of the web manga series written and illustrated by Maeda-kun, and produced by TOHO Animation Studio. The manga has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic online magazine since March 2022. In the Tsugimanga Awards 2022, the manga was ranked fourth in the web manga category.
New Trailer and Visual Confirms Release Date for Puniru wa Kawaii Slime Anime
The official staff debuted a new promotional video on Saturday, August 31, 2024, announcing that the anime Puniru wa Kawaii Slime (Puniru is a Cute Slime) will air its episodes on TV Tokyo and its affiliated channels at 11:45 pm JST, beginning October 6, 2024.
The PV introduces Puniru and Kotaro’s distinctive chemistry while also showcasing other significant characters. The brief clip also offers a glimpse of the opening theme, “Gyumu,”sung by Yuu Sarahara, the voice of Puniru.
The staff also revealed a new visual for the romantic comedy anime series, showcasing the main characters Puniru, Kotaro Kawaii, Arisu Okanega, Mami Kirara, and Yusuke Nanpa in an illustration.
In addition to the broadcast and visual details, the official staff has also revealed three additional cast members for the Puniru wa Kawaii Slime anime. Risa Shimizu has been confirmed to play the role of Mami Kirara, the school’s popular idol and Kotaro’s love interest who does not reciprocate his feelings.
Junya Enoki, famous for his portrayal of Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen, has been added to the cast as Yusuke Nanpa, who is characterized as Kotaro’s fellow classmate. Yumiri Hanamori has also been recruited to lend her voice to the character of Arisu Okanega in this anime.
Yu Sasahara, who portrays Puniru, and Shuichiro Umeda, who plays Kotaro, will be joined by the newly announced voice actors. The anime’s official site has shared comments from these new cast members, expressing their enthusiasm for taking on their roles.
Yushi Ibe is the director of the anime at TOHO Animation Studio, with script supervision by Michiko Yokote. Miharu Hirami and Rintaro Ikeda are assisting Michiko-san with the scripting process.
Aya Tanaka, known for his significant contributions to the creation of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation II anime, has been added to the team as the character designer. Additionally, Izumi Mori has been appointed as the music composer.
The credits for the production of the film include Misaki Enokida as the editor and Yuji Tange as the sound director. Asami Kitsukawa is responsible for color design, while Miu Miyamoto is in charge of art direction. Additionally, Haruka Goto is recognized as the director of photography.
The plot of the Puniru wa Kawaii Slime anime is inspired by Maeda-kun’s web manga. It revolves around Kotaro Kawaii, who brings to life a slime named Puniru. Seven years later, Kotaro is amazed to find that the slime has evolved into a stunning girl.
