In the last installment of tvN’s weekend series “Queen of Tears,”which was broadcasted on April 28th, Baek Hyun-woo (portrayed by Kim Soo-hyun) sacrificed himself to protect Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won) and was fatally shot.
Baek Hyun-woo, despite his fractured rib from the car accident caused by Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon), went out to rescue Hong Hae-in who had been kidnapped by Yoon.
As soon as they began running, Yoon managed to find them. He reassured Hong by saying, “It’s alright, we still have time. Hae-in, let’s go. What’s wrong?”to which Hong replied, “Please wake up. I will never go with you, even if it means I must die.”Yoon inquired, “Truly? Even if it leads to your death?”Fortunately, the police arrived just in the nick of time. Yoon aimed his gun at Hong and declared, “I’m sorry, Hae-in. I can’t leave you here. I have to take you with me, even if it means taking your life,”and pulled the trigger.
Despite Baek Hyun-woo’s efforts to shield Hae-in, he was shot and injured. Sadly, Yoon Eun-sung did not survive the shooting by the police. Baek was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries, but fortunately, he survived.
In the end, he proposed to Hong, and the two remarried, eventually welcoming their daughter into the world. They lived happily together until Hong passed away at the age of 84, due to old age.
