The well-received Sat-Sun drama “Queen of Tears”on tvN is delivering a mix of emotions to its audience through the diverse love stories of various couples, such as Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) and Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won).
Initially, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in captivated the audience with their loving relationship, even after their divorce. Despite their past of growing apart to the point of communication being a challenge, the two found themselves brought together once again when the Queen’s family moved in with Baek Hyun-woo’s family in Yongdu-ri after their home collapsed. This unexpected development became a pivotal moment for Hong Hae-in and Baek Hyun-woo’s relationship.
Despite living together in Yongdu-ri, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in’s relationship grew stronger as they finally confessed their long-suppressed feelings and deep sincerity towards each other. Baek Hyun-woo even went as far as proposing for the second time, hoping to cancel their impending divorce. However, Hong Hae-in’s worsening illness had caused her to lose her memories and ultimately reject his proposal. Despite their continued passionate love for each other, the harsh reality of her illness creates a barrier between them. As a result, viewers are left wondering if the two will be able to overcome this obstacle and find a happy ending together.
Just like his sister Hong Hae-in, who openly expresses her love for her husband, Hong Soo-chul (Kwak Dong-yeon) is deeply in love with his wife Cheon Da-hye (Lee Joo-bin). Despite being aware that Cheon Da-hye was on the same team as Yoon Eun-sung (Park Sung-hoon), the person who caused his family’s downfall, Hong Soo-cheol remains devoted to her and longs for her greatly.
Feeling remorseful for betraying her husband, Hong Soo-cheol, who had opened her heart to love for the first time, Cheon Da-hye made the decision to return to him and return all the possessions she had taken from his family. In response, Hong Soo-cheol not only welcomed her back with open arms as she tearfully apologized, but also showed great care towards her baby, whose paternity was uncertain. All eyes are now on whether Hong Soo-cheol will remain devoted to protecting and cherishing his beloved wife Cheon Da-hye and their son.
In addition to the aforementioned couples, there are other romantic storylines that are gaining attention. Hong Hae-in’s aunt, Hong Beom-ja (Kim Jung-nan), started developing feelings for Yongdu-ri counselor, Kim Young-song (Kim Young-min).
Meeting Kim Young-song for the first time through his mother’s dementia, Hong Beom-ja was surprised to feel a strong attraction towards him despite his awkward and unclear way of speaking. This feeling only intensified when he gifted her with mulberry fruit, causing Hong Beom-ja to feel the first sparks of love in her heart. Unaware that Kim Young-song had also shared the mulberry with others in the village, Hong Beom-ja responded to him with great enthusiasm, hinting at a potential romance between two middle-aged individuals. Having lost faith in love after three failed relationships, Hong Beom-ja is now hopeful that she may have finally found her true love.
