The drama “Queen of Tears”portrays the tumultuous turmoil and eventual rekindling of affection between Hong Hae-in (portrayed by Kim Ji-won), a third-generation heiress of Queens Group, and Baek Hyun-woo (portrayed by Kim Soo-hyun), the son of farmers from Yongdu-ri, throughout their three-year marriage. Surpassing Crash Landing on You in TV Ratings
“With a final rating of 24.9%, “Queen of Tears”surpassed the previous record holder, “Crash Landing on You,”which had a final rating of 21.7%, making it the highest-rated tvN drama to date. Both “Crash Landing on You”and “Queen of Tears”had similar ratings of 6.1% and 5.9% respectively for their first episodes. Unprecedented Buzz Beyond Ratings
The FUNdex survey, conducted by Good Data Corporation which is a specialized institution in analyzing the competitiveness of K-content, revealed that “Queen of Tears”was placed 2nd in terms of buzz among dramas in the past 10 years (2015-2024), following closely behind “Descendants of the Sun”.
Thanks to the drama’s popularity, the cast members including Kim Soo-hyun (as Baek Hyun-woo), Kim Ji-won (as Hong Hae-in), Park Sung-hoon (as Yoon Eun-sung), Kwak Dong-yeon (as Hong Soo-cheol), Lee Joo-bin (as Cheon Da-hye), Kim Kap-soo (as Hong Man-dae), Lee Mi-sook (as Moh Seul-hee), Kim Jung-nan (as Hong Beom-ja), and special guest Song Joong-ki (as Vincenzo), were all ranked in the top 10 for actor buzz.

“Even though it has finished airing, “Queen of Tears”has already achieved significant viewership on Netflix. In just two months, it has recorded a cumulative viewing time of 373.2 million hours, joining the ranks of the streaming platform’s hit dramas. This is a notable feat, especially when compared to last year’s top-ranking show, “The Night Agent: Season 1,”and the second-ranking show, “Ginny & Georgia: Season 2,”which recorded 812.1 million and 665.1 million hours respectively. Despite its domestic airing ending, the show’s sustained global popularity suggests that it will continue to grow in viewership in the future.”
FlixPatrol, a platform for ranking OTT services, reported that “Queen of Tears”has reached the Top 10 on Netflix in 69 countries, both in English and non-English content. Additionally, it has secured the first position in 25 countries.
