The quest “The Story of Roland Duchêne” puts you on the trail of a wizard kidnapped by goblins. However, finding Roland’s trail gives many players a hard time, and that’s why this guide is here to detail the route to follow.

How to start the quest “The Story of Roland Duchêne”
Before you start looking for Roland Duchêne, you must have progressed in the main plot. Only after completing “The Helm of Urtkot” will Adelaide be waiting for you in the Transfiguration Court at Hogwarts.
She will then ask you to go looking for her uncle Roland, visiting a camp where he was last seen.
After finding the camp and defeating the goblins there, use Revelio to find a map left by Roland, as well as his journal.
You guessed it: the map gives the path to follow to find the place where Roland is being held captive.
How to find Roland Duchêne using the map
By opening your map, you should easily spot the river south of your position. You will have to follow this river towards the west until you arrive at the castle occupied by bandits, at the far west of the map.
As you walk along the river, you should come across the rock formation, the twisted tree and the ruined tower, which will trigger a line of dialogue each time.
When you finally reach the castle to the west, clear the area of all its goblins, and take the time to search the numerous chests. You will eventually come across the entrance to the Korrow Ruins, which you need to enter.
Once you’re in the ruins, you can’t really go wrong. Go down the floors following your quest marker. Obviously, goblins will block your path to Roland’s cell. You can try to avoid them, eliminate them with Petrificus Totalus while remaining stealthy… or simply rush into the pile with your wand in hand!
You will need to defeat the goblin leader Pergit, then collect Roland’s wand in the room on your right. Bring the wand back to Roland locked away a little further away, and you will have succeeded in your rescue.
Then return to Adelaide at Hogwarts to complete the quest and receive well-deserved thanks.
