Rachel Zegler, the lead actress in Disney’s upcoming live-action Snow White remake, has received admiration from supporters for her resilient response to death threats on social media.
Despite facing significant backlash last year, Zegler remained the subject of controversy after a resurfaced interview clip about Snow White went viral. Her statement that it’s no longer 1937 and the princess won’t be saved by a prince sparked criticism, which ultimately escalated into a hate campaign.
The actress, who has also starred in Shazam 2 and Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, revealed her interpretation of the traditional princess at the D23 event in 2024. However, the initial trailer received mixed reviews as some viewers criticized the CGI dwarfs and Gal Gadot’s portrayal of the Evil Queen.
As expected, Zegler’s trolls wasted no time in getting involved, with one tagging her in a tweet and stating: “You should be killed.”

The post was taken down from X/Twitter for violating their community guidelines, and in addition, Zegler mentioned, “Just a fun fact, I’ll be performing eight times a week on Broadway this fall! Don’t forget to grab your tickets, Lee! Also, @FBI.”
Later this year, the actress will be starring in Broadway’s revival of Romeo and Juliet alongside Kit Connor from Heartstopper.
Zegler’s followers have inundated her post with expressions of support, including one individual who wrote: “You are truly amazing. I am deeply sorry that you continue to receive this kind of hurtful negativity, but you are handling it with grace and strength like a true queen.”
“One person commented, expressing their appreciation for the individual’s sense of humor but also acknowledging the need to report offensive tweets. Another echoed this sentiment, stating their admiration for the person’s humor and calling for others to report the offensive tweet.
“Rachel, we are filled with love for you! You possess a true talent that not everyone can handle. We are thrilled for the release of Snow White.”
