Based on a report from both Sports Seoul and the real estate industry on August 1st, it has been revealed that Rain acquired a building in the Apgujeong Rodeo area for 15.89 billion won in January 16th under the ownership of Mega Big Entertainment, a company where his father is the registered CEO. Rain successfully made the full payment and officially obtained the ownership of the building on February 28th. Presently, the building is under the management of Woori Asset Trust.
This building, situated in a bustling business district between Hanyang Apartment and Rodeo Street, is surrounded by a multitude of galleries, hair salons, offices, and restaurants. It encompasses a land area of 315.3㎡ and boasts a total floor area of 1085.7㎡. The transaction amount for every 3.3㎡ is 1.667 billion won. With a basement and six above-ground floors, the building also offers convenient parking facilities.
In the beginning of 2021, Rain and his wife, actress Kim Tae-hee, purchased a building in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu for 92 billion won. The couple holds a combined 6/10 ownership of the building, with the remaining shares held by a company represented by Kim Tae-hee. In March of the previous year, the renowned burger chain Shake Shack leased this building to establish a new outlet in the Gangnam district. Sources state that the monthly rent amounts to approximately 100 million won.
In 2022, it was reported that Rain and Kim Tae-hee had earned a total of approximately 100 billion won from their real estate sales. According to a televised report, the pair made 39.8 billion won by selling a building located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu. Additionally, they sold a luxurious house in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan-gu, which they had purchased in 2016 for 5.3 billion won, for 8.5 billion won in May of this year. This resulted in a profit of 3.2 billion won. These lucrative real estate deals have pushed the couple’s assets beyond the 100 billion won mark.
Other famous individuals have also proven their skill in real estate investments. For example, Seo Tae-ji purchased a building in Nohyeon-dong for 5 billion won in 2002 and sold it for a profit of 30 billion won. Similarly, Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon purchased a building in Hannam-dong for 5.8 billion won in 2019 and recently sold it for 8.8 billion won, generating a successful return on their investment.
