Rainbow Six Siege players praise how Valorant counters MnK cheaters on consoles

The Valorant developers have been banning players who use mouse and keyboard to play the beta on consoles, while Rainbow 6 players are wondering why Ubisoft has not taken similar action yet.

While playing Rainbow Six Siege on consoles, players have faced issues with others using XIM devices, which enable them to use mouse and keyboard instead of controllers. This has been viewed as a form of cheating, as it puts controller users at a significant disadvantage.

With the release of R6’s Y8S1.2 patch, Ubisoft implemented the Mousetrap penalty in an attempt to address this problem. However, despite evidence of XIM usage, Ubisoft chose not to ban these cheaters and instead opted for a penalty that introduces input lag for mouse and keyboard players on consoles.

As of writing, it has only been four days since the console beta for Valorant was released, and the developers have already begun taking swift action against XIM cheaters by banning them instantly. The R6 subreddit is filled with praise for this move, with many questioning what Ubisoft has been doing for years in regards to cheaters.

When a player using XIM is caught cheating, the match is immediately terminated instead of being played through. This process is similar to when cheaters are identified and immediately banned while playing on PCs.

“A different player expressed their opinion, stating that they hope all competitive first-person shooter games implement this feature. They believe Valorant is significantly superior to CS2 due to the difference in cheater presence.”

One gamer expressed their concern that Ubisoft heavily relies on microtransactions and the new membership feature. They stated, “It seems like they prioritize profits over fair gameplay by not banning detected cheaters through their mousetrap system. It’s almost as if they let them roam free because they know they’ll spend more money.”

It is widely acknowledged that a mouse and keyboard combination will consistently outperform controllers, particularly in competitive games such as Rainbow 6 or Valorant. In fact, one player even stated, “Those who utilize xims in any game should face the consequences of being IP banned or console banned.”
