During an interview, Rain discussed the differences in his personality from two decades ago to the present. Has his character evolved positively over the years?

During a press interview on August 2, Jung Ji Hoon, popularly known as Rain, discussed the finale of his successful 2024 drama, “Red Swan,”with the Korean media.

During the conversation, the K-pop star and seasoned actor opened up about his character, acknowledging that he used to have a “greedy”streak. However, he was able to overcome this flaw and evolve as a person once he started his own family.

Rain made his debut as a soloist in 1998 and quickly became a key figure in the global recognition of K-pop. His dedication and perseverance paid off as he gained popularity for his successful songs such as “Rainism,””It’s Raining,”and others.

With respect to his most recent project, Rain acknowledged:

“I am very satisfied with the results of this work. I do not want to be too greedy anymore. I think my personality has changed a lot since I decided to let go of the venom I had as a child and become more flexible.”

He proceeded:

“In the past, I was overly obsessed with rankings and box office performance, but now I just feel grateful that I have a place where I can stand. In the future, I want to try various characters regardless of the outcome.”

Since his debut, Rain has continuously found success as both a singer and actor. As a result, he has expressed how much failure affects him whenever he does not achieve his desired goals.

“In the past, I wanted to do well no matter what and I was very greedy. The public may have only seen a fragmented image of me, but if I released a song but it didn’t reach number one, I would have a hard time, to the point of having panic attacks in my sleep.”

Despite spending 26 years in the entertainment industry, his perspective shifted gradually, especially after marrying Kim Tae Hee and becoming a father to their two daughters. Instead of chasing success, his top priority now is to be a loving and responsible father.

“After working for over 20 years, I’ve come to accept that no matter how hard you set a goal and try, there are times when you can’t achieve it. I want to praise myself a lot, but I’ve learned how to let go.

I’m married and have a much more stable job, so my first goal is to be a good father, and my second goal is to show the best of myself that I can.”

Rain further recognized that he had made sufficient contributions and it was now the moment for his fellow juniors to showcase their talents on the field.

“I think I’ve already done my fair share. There are many outstanding juniors in the music industry, and there are many stellar seniors and capable juniors in the broadcasting industry, so I won’t be greedy and will just work hard to do what I can.”

He proceeded to mention Park Jae Beom and Baekho as two junior artists that he has been closely observing.
