Raising Cane’s has gained viral attention in 2024 for their generous portions, particularly a full soda fountain cup of their famous Cane’s sauce. However, this iconic sauce loses its appeal if the chicken tenders don’t meet expectations, and many customers are expressing concerns that the tenders are shrinking in size.
Discussions about this noticeable shift were ignited after a TikTok video went viral, juxtaposing Raising Cane’s chicken tenders with chicken nuggets. Since this post, many others have joined in the chorus, alleging that Raising Cane’s is experiencing shrinkflation.
The original TikTok, shared in June, has garnered over one million views and has initiated a series of videos under the tag “Raising Canes Getting Smaller.”

The TikTok posted by Roz features users comparing current sizes of Raising Cane’s chicken tenders to when the restaurant first opened, with some customers claiming that the tenders used to be much larger.
One commenter remarked, “The other day I got some that were barely larger than the ketchup packet.” Roz concurred, saying she used to “barely finish a combo box meal” and now finds it “nothing.”
Another user mentioned, “They used to be over 2 oz each; now they are between 1.6 and 1.8 oz,”indicating they had actually weighed the tenders themselves.

Concerns extend beyond the chicken, as one commenter claimed that the classic Texas Toast size has also diminished. Another user lamented, “They used to throw in like 3 fistfuls of fries; now I can actually finish the fries,” accompanied by a crying emoji.
Despite the suspected reductions in portion sizes, the prices continue to rise. A recent report suggests that a box combo at Raising Cane’s was priced at $8.35 in 2019, and by 2024, it has surged by 55% to $12.99.
When compared to other popular chicken chains, similar combo meals are priced at $11 at Popeyes and $10.44 at KFC, indicating that Raising Cane’s has become the priciest option.
A Raising Cane’s employee on TikTok shared insights on why these changes might be occurring: “It depends on the shipment we get. Some weeks we get good size tenders; other times, they’re small.” Another employee, responsible for weighing tenders before marination, noted that anything between 1.6oz and 2.3oz is considered normal.
This situation isn’t exclusive to Raising Cane’s; other fast food chains are also facing customer dissatisfaction, including disappointment among McDonald’s fans regarding the current year’s Boo Bucket design.
