The Big Score bonus sheet in MTG Outlaws of Thunder Junction offers a diverse selection of potent and valuable cards, with the latest price spike being for Vaultborn Tyrant.
The most recent addition to The Big Score, the Vaultborn Tyrant, is experiencing a surge in price as players begin to recognize its potential. While previously, the Artifact cards such as Ancient Cornucopia, Simulacrum Synthesizer, and Lotus Ring were highly coveted and expensive, it is now the Creature’s turn to take the spotlight.
After initially being sold for approximately $9 following the release of Outlaws of Thunder Junction, the price of Vaultborn Tyrant has significantly increased, now averaging at $25.04 on TCGPlayer. This rise in value can be attributed to the growing demand for dinosaur Creatures and its proven effectiveness in Pioneer decks.
The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander Pantlaza, Sun-favored, has been dominating the MTG scene and bringing attention to Dinosaur Creatures. This surge in popularity has caused a high demand for Dinosaur support cards, including the highly sought-after Vaultborn Tyrant. Pantlaza’s rapid rise in the rankings of most-played Commanders has only fueled the demand for these support cards.
Despite its impressive 6/6 body and trample ability, Vaultborn Tyrant’s cost of 5GG (two green mana and five of any color) is not enough to make it a standout choice. For one mana less, Colossal Dreadmaw offers the same combat capabilities, and dinosaur decks already have a plethora of powerful options such as Gishath, Sun’s Avatar and Ghalta, Primal Hunger.
Having its combat abilities already established, the Vaultborn tyrant excels in dinosaur Commander decks by providing both strength and value. Whenever the tyrant or another Creature with 4 or more power enters the battlefield under your control, you can draw a card and gain 3 life. This effect has no restriction on how many times it can be used per turn, and with dinosaur decks containing a multitude of creatures with high power, the Vaultborn Tyrant not only makes you more resilient, but also replenishes your hand with a variety of options.
