Despite this, it was officially announced that the University Arc of the Rascal Does Not Dream anime will be adapted into a television series instead of a movie or multiple films. Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus: University Arc set to air

The upcoming installment of the Rascal Does Not Dream anime, known as the University Arc, will follow the same format as previous releases and be titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus. This arc is based on the “University Student Arc,”which is often referred to as the University Arc by fans. It will be the fifth project in the anime franchise and the first since the release of two films in 2023.

The second film, titled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid, was released in Japan on December 1, 2023. It continued the story from the first film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out, which premiered in Japanese theaters on June 23, 2023. This film was also a continuation of the June 2019 film, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, which itself was a sequel to the Bunny Girl Senpai television anime series.

The 13-episode television anime series, which debuted in Japan in October 2018, is based on the first five volumes of the original light novels written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keji Mizoguchi. The light novel series, titled Rascal Does Not Dream, has been in circulation for 10 years and has sold over 3 million copies. The 14th volume will be released in Japan on August 9, followed by the 15th and final volume on October 10, marking the end of the series.

The main focus of the story is on Sakuta Azusagawa, a high school student whose life takes a strange turn when he crosses paths with teenage actress Mai Sakurajima, who happens to be dressed as a bunny girl. Sakuta is the only one who can see her, regardless of her attire or attempts to go unnoticed. He dubs this occurrence as Adolescence Syndrome and is on a mission to unravel its mystery, all while forging a deeper connection with Mai and encountering other girls who also experience this phenomenon.
