While Queen of Tears may have followed the typical romantic K-drama formula off-screen, Netflix’s Love Next Door has broken away from this trend and sparked mixed reactions.
Having romantic chemistry is essential for any good K-drama, regardless of whether it is available on Netflix or not. Whether it is heart-wrenching like Lovely Runner or lesser-known like Hierarchy, creating buzz and sparking conversation is what truly counts.
Despite not being a real-life couple, Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min’s on-screen chemistry in Netflix’s Love Next Door has still caught the attention of fans for an unexpected reason.
Throughout this year, viewers have been treated to numerous new TV shows featuring real-life couples portraying fictional characters. One noteworthy example is Queen of Tears, where there have been rumors of an off-screen romantic relationship between the stars Kim Ji-won and Kim Soo-hyun.
According to followers of the show, the chemistry between the actors has a significant impact on the drama, and it has divided fans. One fan shared a comparison of the behavior of the “Jung couple”and “Kim couple”during press trips, stating: “This highlights the contrast between co-stars who are dating and those who are not.”
One person responded, stating that the distinction lies in the fact that certain fans are having unrealistic beliefs. Another individual added, “When you mix the realm of imagination with reality, it’s bound to seem humorous.”Although I have no personal interest in the Kim couple, I am taken aback by the idea of harboring fantasies about other couples.
“Don’t the Kim couple provide enough material for imagination?”
Despite not publicly confirming any details about their personal lives, it is widely believed that both Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min are currently single. Jung So-min was previously in a relationship with fellow Korean actor Lee Joon, but the two have since ended their relationship.
In the film Love Next Door, the two leads portray a woman seeking to transform her life and the son of her mother’s friend who is aware of her troubled past.
Despite K-drama fans believing that comparing the Jungs to other actors may spark an unnecessary debate, there are already those who are praising their chemistry.
One individual commented: “Don’t forget to tune in to Love Next Door on Netflix, premiering on August 17th. It features actors who are not in a romantic relationship, portraying fictional characters and having a fun time while doing so.”
According to another fan, Love Next Door is already capturing their heart. The chemistry between the characters is evident, the childhood trope is being executed effectively, and the sub-family arc is adding depth to the series. This fan’s Kdrama slump is now officially over.
Netflix has also chimed in, sharing a video that declares the duo’s chemistry as “perfect.”

“One fan disagreed, stating that after watching Love Next Door and experiencing the chemistry between SooWon, it would be difficult to find another couple with the same level of chemistry for a few years. They compared it to another binge-worthy TV show, Queen of Tears.”
Fortunately, the streaming service offers both shows, giving you the opportunity to choose your preferred romantic couple.
Tune in to the highly anticipated K-drama, Queen of Tears, and catch up on the special episodes. Also, don’t miss out on other exciting TV shows streaming this month.
