The drama “Queen of Tears”portrays the romance of Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), a third-generation chaebol, and her husband Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) as they rekindle their love after going through a difficult time in their third year of marriage.
In the drama, Kwak Dong-yeon played the role of Hong Soo-cheol, the younger brother of Hong Hae-in. He acted alongside Lee Joo-bin, who played Cheon Da-hye, a woman who joined the Queens’ family for her own ulterior motives.
Despite the shocking revelation in episode 9 that Geon-woo was not Hong Soo-cheol’s biological son, Hong Soo-cheol continued to show love and acceptance towards Cheon Da-hye and Geon-woo, treating them as his own family members and taking care of them with great care.
When Kwak Dong-yeon joined the project, he was unaware that Geon-woo was not Hong Soo-cheol’s biological son. After reading the script for the first time, the actor was surprised to learn about this plot twist. He felt betrayed when the director revealed that something involving Geon-woo would happen.
Despite the focus on Hong Soo-cheol’s family in the drama, it was child actor Goo Shi-woo, who portrayed Geon-woo, that captured the hearts of viewers with his adorable performance.
The entire production team, consisting of both the cast and staff, came together in Yeouido to celebrate the completion of “Queen of Tears”. However, one member, child actor Goo Shi-woo, was unable to attend the wrap party and reunite with his on-screen parents due to being on a family trip.
On the day of the wrap party, Goo Shi-woo’s mother posted on social media, sharing the location of her son: “100 Score for Children’s Grand Park. His face showed 1000% satisfaction #Children’s Grand Park.”
