Reasons for iZombie’s Departure from Netflix: Removal Explained & Streaming Alternatives

The CW’s iZombie series is no longer available on Netflix, and here’s where fans can stream the show next.

This supernatural procedural series aired for five seasons from 2015 through 2019. iZombie gained a cult following during its run, benefitting from The CW’s exclusive streaming deal with Netflix.

Unfortunately for fans, iZombie was removed from Netflix on September 5, 2024.

Why did iZombie leave Netflix?

In 2011, amid challenges for the network, The CW signed its first subscription agreement with Netflix. This deal was renewed in 2016, allowing shows to premiere their full seasons on the platform shortly after their season finales.

Series like Arrow, iZombie, and Jane the Virgin reached a broader audience as a result of this arrangement. However, since The CW chose not to extend the licensing deal in 2019, iZombie exited Netflix in September 2024.

This change also affects two other CW shows – Jane the Virgin and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Where to stream iZombie

Fans looking to watch iZombie after its departure from Netflix can do so through The CW app. Currently, other streaming options are limited, but viewers can purchase individual episodes or full seasons on Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and YouTube.

It’s important to note that Apple TV only offers the first two seasons, while YouTube has Seasons 1 through 3 available for purchase.

iZombie, based on the comic series by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, follows the undead adventures of medical examiner-turned-zombie Liv Moore, who helps solve murder cases by consuming victims’ brains and unlocking their memories.
