Reasons Why a Second Season of My Wife Has No Emotion is Necessary

Although the anime My Wife Has No Emotion premiered its episodes in July 2024, it has already wrapped up with a total of 12 episodes. The series finale featured main characters Takuma, Mina, and Mamoru relocating to a new home, leaving fans eager for the potential announcement of My Wife Has No Emotion Season 2.

Currently, there has been no official confirmation from either the anime or its production company, Tezuka Productions, regarding a sequel season. So, what makes the My Wife Has No Emotion anime worthy of a second season? Are there any indications that a continuation may be on the horizon?

While Tezuka Productions has not yet announced a second season for My Wife Has No Emotion, the conclusion of the season suggests a sequel could be likely.

The anime didn’t provide a definitive ending, which deviated significantly from the manga’s storyline. This decision seems strategic, allowing the adaptation to finish with a coherent narrative that leaves room for further development in potential future seasons.

In terms of sequel potential, Takuma’s line about the Kosugi family’s move marking a new chapter in his life hints at the creators’ openness to a second season. This indicates a strategic decision to end the show on an open note, facilitating a seamless continuation if a sequel is greenlit.

As for source material, the My Wife Has No Emotion manga has released a total of 53 chapters to date. Given that the first anime season adapted 25 chapters, it’s reasonable to anticipate that a potential second season could follow suit by adapting a similar number of chapters. Therefore, Tezuka Productions has ample source material to support a second season.

However, the main concern currently is the serialization of the manga’s upcoming chapters. The My Wife Has No Emotion manga has entered an indefinite hiatus due to personal challenges faced by its author, Jirou Sugiura. If the mangaka resumes work soon, fans could see the anime getting the green light for a second season.

Regarding the ratings, My Wife Has No Emotion has performed quite well among the shows produced by Tezuka Productions. It has surpassed several notable titles, including recent series like Girlfriend, Girlfriend and How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.

While it’s true that the animation studio has only produced one season for both aforementioned anime, this opens the possibility for them to transfer rights for the sequel, similar to how they allowed SynergySP to animate Girlfriend, Girlfriend.

Thus, unlike other studios that prefer to retain their rights even when not producing content, Tezuka Productions is likely to ensure another studio meets the fanbase’s demand for a sequel season.
