Reasons Why Hunters are the Top Class in Destiny 2’s The Final Shape

Titan and Warlock players in Destiny 2 have been quick to transition to the Hunter class following the reveal of its new Subclass, which has proven to be highly effective in endgame activities.

The release of Destiny 2’s The Final Shape brought about numerous game changes, most notably the addition of a new Subclass known as Prismatic. This new Subclass has quickly gained popularity and has greatly impacted the game’s meta. Among these changes, the Hunter class has emerged as the dominant class in the game.

The most recent statistics gathered from the completion of the Salvation’s Edge Raid in Contest Mode clearly showed this.

According to the data from RaidReport, a total of 675 teams successfully completed the challenge within the given time frame. Analysis of the top 50 teams who completed it within the first 24 hours shows a clear preference for the Hunter class in their team composition.

Based on a report posted by selpix_ on the Destiny 2 subreddit, which was based on RaidReport data, it was found that 74% of players opted for the Hunter class during the Salvation’s Edge Challenge Mode.

The surge in the Hunter class’ popularity can be attributed to multiple factors. Primary among these is the Prismatic Hunter’s versatility, surpassing that of the Warlock and Titan.

The updated Hunter class now has the ability to achieve an exceptional 75% damage reduction while still possessing enough firepower to significantly reduce the health of boss enemies. Additionally, the introduction of a new Exotic Sniper Rifle that works in conjunction with the Celestial Nighthawk only adds to its effectiveness.

The Still Hunt allows all classes to use Golden Gun, but the Hunter benefits from the Celestial Nighthawk.

Imagine having two powerful Golden Guns and an extra one after landing four precise sniper shots. This showcases the Hunter’s skill as a damage dealer, as they no longer rely on receiving buffs from the Titan’s Bubble or Warlock’s Well.

Despite the Warlock’s ability to deal significant damage with its new Song of Flame Super, the recent nerf to its Well of Radiance has reduced its effectiveness as a support class. Additionally, the new Super is not as suitable as Golden Gun for boss DPS.

During The Final Shape, the Titan has been deemed the unfortunate one. This sentiment has been echoed by players and content creators such as Hectic, who believe that the Prismatic subclass is in need of a revision.

It goes without saying that Destiny 2 still has a lot of work ahead to establish a solid meta, especially with the recent release of Episode 1: Echoes.

There is a wide array of new weapons to gather, such as the Khvostov, Microcosm, and Ergo Sum, which will surely keep you occupied.
