Rebirth Island and Area 99 in Warzone: What is Happening?

Will the popular Rebirth Island map remain in Warzone even after the newer Area 99 map is released? Although there is no official confirmation yet, we do have some preliminary information to consider.

As soon as Warzone was released in 2020, it became an instant hit for the CoD franchise. The game’s expansive map, Verdansk, captured the attention of millions of players, but the excitement reached new heights when the first smaller map was introduced.

In December of 2020, Rebirth Island was introduced, bringing a thrilling end to the first year. This smaller map increased the speed and intensity of the Battle Royale, however, it has not always been a permanent feature throughout the years.

During both the Caldera and Al Mazrah periods, Rebirth Island has been removed at different points. While it is currently accessible as the Modern Warfare 3 cycle comes to a close, fans are starting to worry about its potential disappearance once more as Black Ops 6 approaches.

With the upcoming release of Area 99, a smaller BR map, will this new addition completely replace Rebirth Island? Here’s what we currently know.

Rebirth Island and Area 99: The Future of Call of Duty

At present, there is no indication that Rebirth Island will be taken out of Warzone upon the arrival of Area 99.

Upon the release of Black Ops 6 on October 25, 2024, a major change will take place in Warzone with the integration of Area 99. The Season 1 update will then follow approximately a month later, bringing with it this highly anticipated shakeup.

When Area 99 arrives in Warzone, it appears that it will be located near Rebirth Island. However, there is no definitive confirmation at this time. As we have observed in the past, beloved game modes and popular playlists can suddenly disappear without notice, so there is a possibility that Rebirth Island could face a similar fate.

Although not confirmed, a well-known Call of Duty leaker named ‘HeyImAlaix’ has stated that there is a possibility Rebirth will be removed. According to the leak, Area 99 is expected to become the main small map in Warzone, while Fortune’s Keep may still be available as a secondary option.

For the time being, we will have to wait and see what developers have in store for the Season 1 update as Black Ops 6 takes center stage. It is logical for developers to encourage players to switch over to the new game, but if they remove Rebirth, it may result in a similar backlash.

We will keep you informed as more information becomes available in the time leading up to the launch.
