Bad Monkey: Season 1, Episode 3 Recap
The third episode of Bad Monkey begins with Rosa and Yancy discussing their next course of action. As the episode unfolds, their relationship experiences significant development.
Yancy and Rosa’s first stop is to see Madeleine, the girlfriend of the late Phinney, a deckhand who was tragically killed by Christopher in a drive-by. In a comical moment, Yancy’s knowledge and Rosa’s inexperience are highlighted as he insists that Madeleine is a runner, but Rosa doubts him. When they finally come face to face with Madeleine, she quickly takes off, which is a refreshing change from the usual dynamic between Yancy and Rosa.
Despite being caught by Rosa and Yancy, Madeline’s jitteriness can be attributed to her history of drug sales. She reveals that Phinney, who is usually a productive employee, has been employed by Captain Keith on the ship. Madeline becomes agitated and points out that Phinney must have orchestrated the setup of the arm due to the large sum of money involved.
Nick Stripling’s company, Midwest Mobile Medical, is the one that labeled the cooler upon its arrival. Yancy puts on a shirt and tie and prepares to further investigate at the Midwest office. The office appeared disorderly, indicating that the person inside had hastily attempted to leave.
Although he may seem capable, Donald, the security guard, is highly proficient at his job and is able to identify that the sports SUV parked outside is not an approved vehicle by the federal authorities. As a responsible employee, he immediately notifies the appropriate authorities. During their investigation, they uncover the name of a doctor, Israel O’Peele, who was responsible for authorizing prescriptions, just before the police arrive on the scene.
After almost getting into an accident near the building, Yancy and Rosa make their way to O’Peele’s residence. O’Peele appears to be on edge, and it doesn’t take long for the two to realize that the supposed Midwest Medical company was actually a fraudulent operation. As it turns out, O’Peele was paid a hefty sum of $1,000 for each prescription scooter, depending on how successful their month was.
Upon speaking, Yancy stumbles upon a brochure for Christopher’s Bahamian Resort and takes it. He also admires Eve and Nick as a couple. The news of Nick and Phinney’s passing greatly shocks Izzy, causing him to cease talking and fall silent.
Despite spending some time at his sister’s house, Neville’s luck takes a turn for the worse when he is shot by Christopher for approaching his property. As a result, he returns to the Dragon Queen and demands his money back.
Despite Ya-Ya’s lack of persuasion, she still holds onto her belief that Neville needs faith, something he does not possess. Nevertheless, Neville proves his worth by sacrificing his beloved Monkey, Driggs, in order to regain his home. This act serves as a true testament to his genuine conviction.
During their conversation, Rosa and Yancy discuss Christopher and his resort. Rosa speculates that Stripling is the owner of the severed arm bone fragments, while Yancy expresses optimism about regaining his job. In the midst of their discussion, Yancy receives a call from Madeline who believes she is being followed. However, it is later revealed that she is not, but we will delve into this further at a later time.
Later that night, Neville manages to infiltrate Christopher’s office and seizes a USB stick he comes across. Unfortunately, Egg coincidentally happens to be present. Egg warns Neville that this situation will not turn out well for him, but Neville disregards his words and pulls out his gun, using it to intimidate Egg before fleeing from the scene.
The climax of this drama takes place at Maddie’s workplace, where it is revealed that she is actually alive. However, there is more to the story than just her survival. The layers of the plot continue to unfold when Nick, who is missing an arm, unexpectedly appears at Eve’s house.
