Recent Shootouts Involving American Pokemon Card Business

If we had received a nickel every time this Pokemon card shop became an innocent victim of a shootout, we would only have two nickels. It may not be a significant amount, but it is strange that it has happened twice.

Despite its innocent and family-friendly reputation, Pokemon has unfortunately been associated with numerous real-life criminal incidents. In fact, there have been such a significant number of pokecrimes that a comprehensive list has been compiled.

Pokemon calling cards have been linked to car vandalisms, $250,000 heists, and armed robberies during sales. This issue has reached epidemic levels, and a small game shop in Seattle has become a peculiar hub for such incidents. While not directly related to Pokemon, this shop seems to attract crime occurring in its vicinity.

The sale of the Pokemon TCG and tournaments are the main sources of income for Tabletop Village, a game shop based in Seattle. Unfortunately, on August 11, 2024, the business’ windows were unintentionally damaged during a heated confrontation.

FOX 13 reported that on August 11, Seattle PD received reports of a shooting in the city’s Chinatown International District. The initial reports stated that patrol officers in the vicinity were the first responders who heard the gunshots and immediately responded.

According to Detective Eric Munoz of Fox, an investigation concluded that a disagreement between two groups in a parking lot turned into a shooting. As the shooting took place in the parking lot, a separate group of three individuals on foot across the street also began firing their weapons at the group involved in the initial shooting.

It is worth noting that Tabletop Village, along with other vehicles and businesses in the vicinity, suffered damage from gunfire. This marks the second instance in which the store has been involved in a shooting and suffered damage as a consequence.

“Owner Brian Myers disclosed that this is the second occurrence of being hit. We are determined to make our voices heard by city authorities as these incidents are occurring too often and need to be addressed and controlled.”

Despite the ongoing investigation, the police have been unable to disclose any information regarding the motive behind the shootout. However, as it occurred well after midnight, well beyond the store’s normal business hours, they may eliminate the possibility of it being related to Pokemon.
