Thanks to his extensive knowledge of the horror genre, author Stephen King’s recommendations hold significant influence. Currently, he is recommending two contemporary TV series to his fans.
In early August 2024, Stephen King continued his tradition of recommending horror works by encouraging audiences to check out Strange Darling.
The author is once again pursuing his passion, but this time his focus has shifted from horror movies to promoting binge-watching of two TV shows with the intention of influencing others.
After a fan expressed their belief that the series From was “one of the criminally underrated, under-appreciated shows of all time,”King responded by saying, “I agree. This show, along with Evil on Paramount+ and now Netflix, are also deserving of recognition.”
This was not the initial instance where the author utilized his platform to endorse the aforementioned show, as evidenced by his previous post on X/Twitter which read, “Dear Paramount+: More EVIL, please.”
The show Evil aired a total of 50 episodes over the course of four seasons, running from September 2019 to May 2024. The first two seasons were broadcasted on CBS, while the last two were shown on Paramount+.
The series centers on a forensic psychologist, a former war correspondent, and their technical expert and equipment handler, who are hired by the Catholic Church to investigate a series of progressively perilous paranormal occurrences.
Despite receiving critical acclaim and achieving an outstanding 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Evil has largely gone unnoticed by mainstream horror fans.
Conversely, From received a polarizing response from fans of horror due to its extensive promotion as a personal undertaking of Marvel’s Russo Brothers.
The series first aired in February 2022 and currently consists of two seasons, each with 10 episodes. Fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of Season 3 on September 22, 2024.
Both Paramount+ and Netflix offer Evil, but the streaming service MGM+ is the only platform where From can be watched.
