After the events in Athrabalt, you can embark on the quest to recruit Momo in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Upon completing the Athrabalt story segment, make your way to the southern end of Hishahn. Here, you will encounter Momo and be led to the Seaside Cavern. You are free to leave and prepare your party or engage in other activities at any time, and you can return to the Seaside Cavern whenever you are ready to continue with the recruitment quest.

Preparing Your Party

As you strive to enlist Momo, you will encounter a boss creature that is vulnerable to Earth attacks. Before setting out, speak with Ymir on the first floor of your HQ to add characters with Earth spells to your party. Alternatively, you can equip your characters with Earth Magic Runes, such as the Rune of Stone, to exploit the boss’s weakness.

In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, the Seaside Cavern is an optional area that can be explored early on, even before meeting Momo. If you had entered the cavern earlier, you may have encountered a seal blocking the northwest corner of the map. However, once you reach the seal with Momo, he will remove it, granting you access to a room where you will face off against a Kraken in a boss battle.

The Kraken is a formidable yet uncomplicated boss. It is vulnerable to Earth, meaning that Earth spells should be utilized whenever possible. The Kraken has the ability to attack individual characters with its tentacles, or the entire front row with a splash attack. To avoid being hit by the splash attack, quickly activate the floodgates using the battle’s gimmick.

Kraken Battle Gimmick

One effective tactic in the fight against the Kraken involves a multi-part gimmick. The initial step is to activate the floodgates and decrease the water level. This will prevent the Kraken from executing its splash attack and will also expose the harpoon gun.

Once the water level has been reduced, a character can be utilized to load the harpoon gun. In the subsequent turn, the same character can then shoot the harpoon gun, resulting in 600 damage to the Kraken. Keep utilizing the harpoon gun every other turn to inflict significant damage to the Kraken.

After defeating the Kraken, you will receive a Rune of Pure Water as a drop. Momo will also permanently join your team and serve as the most powerful magic user in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. It is highly recommended to keep him in your party. Additionally, there is a Rune of SP waiting in the treasure chest located in the same room as the Kraken. Be sure to retrieve it before leaving.

If you need a break from recruiting new characters, consider using that time to collect Excellent Lacquer and upgrade your town buildings.
