To have Rody join your team in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, you must present him with a Pearl Pocket-Watch. However, you must first locate Rody. Once he becomes a member of your base, he will serve as your appraiser. This may leave Dabavin without an appraiser, but it proves to be beneficial for your team and is crucial for achieving the game’s ultimate ending by recruiting all characters.

If you want to obtain a Pearl Pocket-Watch, you must first acquire an “Unknown Pocket-Watch”and have it evaluated by an appraiser. Fortunately, most towns have at least one appraiser, and even Dabavin’s Rody can appraise items for you before joining your party. The cost for an appraisal is 100 baqua, but don’t fret about spending such a small amount; all appraised items sell for significantly more than 100 baqua, making each appraisal a worthwhile investment, even if you don’t receive the desired Pearl Pocket-Watch.

In Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, there are multiple methods to obtain a Pearl Pocket-Watch. These include the following, listed in chronological order:

A Guaranteed Pearl Pocket-Watch in the Seaside Cavern

The Seaside Cavern houses a special treasure chest containing a Pearl Pocket-Watch, although it may not appear to be so at first. Despite being labeled as an Unknown Pocket-Watch, it will always be a Pearl Pocket-Watch when evaluated. This treasure chest can be found on a small piece of land protruding from the main walkways, roughly halfway through the dungeon.

If you do not plan on recruiting Rody, you may come across this Pearl Pocket-Watch before meeting him and unknowingly sell it. However, if you have not yet met Rody, do not sell the pocket-watch. Instead, have it appraised and keep it until you meet Rody so you can recruit him right away. This will ensure that you do not miss out on the opportunity to recruit Rody.

Random Drops from Desert Killer and Xibalba

If you had already sold the guaranteed Pearl Pocket-Watch before encountering Rody, there are still two enemies in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes that have a chance of dropping the Unknown Pocket-Watch when defeated. One of these enemies is the Desert Killer. You can encounter the Desert Killer by traveling on a sand ship from Impershi’arc across the Great Sandy Sea. The Unknown Pocket-Watch dropped by the Desert Killer may more commonly be a Wind-Up Pocket-Watch, or, more rarely, the Pearl Pocket-Watch that you are seeking. You can encounter Desert Killers around the same time you first meet Rody, and they are vulnerable to Wind attacks.

Later on in the game, you will come across the enemy Xibalba in Castle Harganthia. This enemy is also known for dropping the Unknown Pocket-Watch. It is worth noting that Xibalba is vulnerable to Light attacks.

The drops from the Unknown Pocket-Watch Xibalba can consist of a Pearl Pocket-Watch, which is typically a medium rarity Self-Winding Pocket-Watch, or the most rare (and valuable) Dragon-Inscribed Pocket-Watch. If you have not yet acquired a Pearl Pocket-Watch from a Desert Killer, it is recommended to keep one from Xibalba in order to recruit Rody.

Use a Lucky Badge or Super Lucky Badge to Increase Your Drop Rate

By equipping either the Lucky Badge, Super Lucky Badge, or both onto your party members, you can increase your chances of obtaining the Unknown Pocket-Watch from either Desert Killer or Xibalba. The Lucky Badge, which can be found in a treasure chest in the Seaside Cavern, boosts the enemy item drop rate by 10%. On the other hand, the Super Lucky Badge, which is obtained during CJ’s recruitment quest in the Runebarrows, increases the enemy item drop rate by 50%. Combining both badges will result in a total enemy item drop rate increase of 60%.

Another way to obtain Sparklestone from enemies and recruit Squash is by using the Lucky Badge and/or Super Lucky Badge.
