During an interview, Red Velvet Joy disclosed the story behind her under-eye and lip piercings, which were considered one of her boldest transformations and went against her previously perceived pure and innocent image.

During the clip, the celebrity joined forces with the lifestyle magazine to discuss her bold fashion choices, skincare regimen, and even gave a glimpse into the contents of her bag in a “What’s in My Bag?”segment.
Red Velvet Joy Discusses Drastic Image Transformation With Lip Piercings For ‘Chill Kill’ Promotions
In the latest issue of Allure Korea, the K-pop star was featured in a digital spread and also took part in a brief interview about fashion and beauty.
Dressed in a green gown for the interview, Joy expressed her appreciation to the staff, stating:
“I felt good because the staff members called me princess. I liked all the concepts we shot today.”
Speaking of concepts, Allure Korea revisited the moment when Joy took a bold step in transforming her image by getting piercings on her eyes and lips.
In December 2023, the female idol surprised K-pop fans by revealing her piercings, which were a stark contrast to her usual image of vibrant and polished visuals.
In regards to this, Joy proceeded to explain the motivation behind her decision to get piercings, recounting:
“I’m actually scared of piercings because I’m a very timid person. Other than the two on my earlobes, I don’t have any. But when I filmed the music video for ‘Chill Kill,’ my makeup artist suggested that I get piercings.”

Afterwards, Joy expressed her emotions and ideas from that moment, stating:
“Piercings make me have that languid and decadent look for no reason. I developed that kind of attitude and thought, ‘I’m doing this for the fun of it,’ but I don’t plan on getting piercings or tattoos in the future anymore because it’s painful.”

During the interview, the “Hello”singer was also questioned about how she keeps her skin looking as youthful as it did 10 years ago.
Afterwards, Joy responded:
“10 years ago, I didn’t take care of it at all. Now I’m working hard. I try to drink water, don’t eat processed foods, and eat a lot of vegetables and fruits.”Since I have dry skin, moisture is really important, so I only use products containing hyaluronic acid.”
Furthermore, she also disclosed her current scent preference, stating:
“Just as clothes change with the seasons, my taste for perfume also changes with the seasons. Now that it’s spring, I’m drawn to citrus colors.”
Joy’s distinctive approach to using perfume involves spraying it all over her body, starting at the crown of her head and finishing with a light mist on the tips of her hair.
The celebrity shared a helpful tip that spraying perfume on your hair will leave it smelling delightful when it is in motion or when a breeze blows through it.
