During an interview, the up-and-coming actor recounted the story of how he became Red Velvet’s bodyguard before their debut and shared Irene’s reaction upon reuniting with him.
On July 11, the web show “MMTG”on YouTube, hosted by JaeJae, aired a new episode with guest appearances by actors Jo Jung Suk, Han Sun Hwa, Shin Seung Ho, and Lee Joo Myung.
The individuals listed above are all part of the cast for the highly anticipated comedy-drama film, “Pilot,”which is scheduled to be released on July 31st.
The movie follows the journey of Han Jung Woo (Jo Jung Suk), a thriving pilot who is forced to adopt a new identity as Han Jung Mi, a flight attendant, after unexpectedly losing his job.
During the web program, the cast discussed their unique backgrounds, and at that moment, actor Shin Seung Ho revealed his special connection with Red Velvet.
JaeJae presented him, stating:
“After he quit soccer, he worked as a bodyguard. He once worked as a bodyguard for Red Velvet fan signings. Then he met Irene as main characters of his first film, ‘Double Patty.”
When the other actors were surprised and likened it to a real-life drama, Shin Seung Ho recounted his experience of becoming the girl group’s bodyguard, stating:
“After quitting my career as an athlete, the thing I wanted to do the most was working part-time.
A friend from my alma mater said he was working part-time under a department store’s security team, so I passed the screening, and they sometimes assigned me to close protection.
That day, I heard that Red Velvet was coming, so they told me to do it (close protection). I didn’t even know that a picture was taken.”
During the program, a photo was taken of a bodyguard protecting Red Velvet, revealing him to be Shin and showcasing his handsome appearance.
In 2018, he made his acting debut with “A-Teen”and his career would continue to flourish with his noteworthy projects including “Love Alarm,””Weak Hero Class 1,”and “Alchemy of Souls.”
As JaeJae had predicted, he would cross paths with Red Velvet Irene once more – except this time, not as her bodyguard but as her fellow actor.
In 2021, they both made their debut in the film industry with the release of “Double Patty,”bringing attention to their previous relationship.
After a long time, when JaeJae decided to delve deeper into their meeting, Shin Seung Ho revealed:
“In the movie I filmed with Irene, the director asked, ‘Have you seen each other before?’ So I said, ‘No,’ and started filming.
After filming for about 10 times, it suddenly hit me in the head and said, ‘I have seen them before.’ When I looked up the video, I remember seeing Irene’s manager on set as well.”
During a previous interview, Shin shared his experience of collaborating with the star and stated:
“Irene and I helped each other out and talked over our scenes as we prepared for our roles. I think that our scenes had a higher level of completion because we worked together and shared conversations instead of preparing on our own. I also think our chemistry was quite good.”
