Rekkles May Join Struggling T1 at Worlds 2024

European League of Legends star Carl Martin Erik ‘Rekkles’ Larsson is now officially part of the T1 roster for Worlds 2024 after the team narrowly qualified for this prestigious international competition.

In a surprising move during the 2023 off-season, Rekkles signed with T1 Esports Academy after spending his entire career in Europe. The seasoned player transitioned from ADC to the support role in the same year, where he has excelled, becoming a standout performer for the T1 sister team throughout the 2024 season.

This impressive performance has earned him a substitute position on the main roster for the world championship, as reported by the League of Legends esports website. This news follows shortly after T1 managed to qualify for the event with a tense 3-2 victory against KT Rolster in the 2024 Regional Finals.

While with T1 Esports Academy, Rekkles helped the team achieve ninth place in the spring split and sixth in the summer regular season. The squad concluded its journey in the 2024 Summer Playoffs by finishing fourth, following their loss to Dplus KIA Challengers.

While T1 has yet to announce its official lineup for the championship, Rekkles is available for selection in the Pick’Em categories on the Riot Games website.

Teams typically have the option to include one substitute player in case one of their starters becomes ill or needs to leave unexpectedly.

It remains to be seen whether Rekkles will replace Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong as ADC or Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok as support. The South Korean team has faced challenges against stronger opponents leading up to the world championship, although both starting players are known for their strong individual skills.

Alternatively, Rekkles may be brought on board to provide veteran experience to the team and to connect with his home fanbase in T1 colors during the European-hosted event.

Regardless, this will mark Rekkles’s seventh attendance at the world championship. Traditionally representing Fnatic at this event, he will don the red and white of T1 instead of the familiar Fnatic orange and black for the first time on the international stage.
