Black Butler: Public School Arc Episode 4 Recap
In the fourth episode of Black Butler season 4, Ciel Phantomhive has become the Drudge of a Prefect’s Drudge and finds himself receiving unwanted attention from his peers. With his faithful butler, Sebastian, by his side, Ciel is determined to uncover the truth behind students cutting off ties with their families.
Despite their suspicions, they are unable to locate any of the missing students within the school grounds. Bound by strict regulations, Ciel intends to approach the Prefects, particularly Gregory Violet, to gather information about Derrick Arden, a rumored missing student who may have been transferred to the Violet House.
At Swan Gazebo, Ciel discovers the long-standing tradition of the annual cricket tournament. It is more than just a competition, as it also allows outsiders to participate. While casually chatting, Ciel subtly inquires about Derrick’s whereabouts, but Gregory Violet is hesitant to share. Nevertheless, Ciel successfully captures the attention of the other Prefects.
Despite the Prefects’ reluctance to share information, Ciel continues to inquire about Derrick, discovering that he was transferred because of his exceptional abilities. Despite their attempts to conceal the truth, Ciel cannot shake the feeling that there is something serious being kept hidden. He decides to stop pressing for more details in order to avoid raising any suspicions.
While interviewing multiple students, Ciel remains unable to obtain any definitive answers regarding Derrick’s skills. Sebastian also conducts his own inquiry, yet both he and Ciel are unable to uncover the cause of Derrick’s transfer.
In a daring move, Ciel chooses to distract the Violet Wolf by setting their dormitory on fire. Sebastian then calls for a roll call, citing the school’s rules, in an attempt to lure out Derrick. As the chaos ensues, Ciel and Sebastian patiently await Derrick’s arrival.
