Oshi no Ko will be making its debut in live-action this year, leaving the anime and manga community uncertain about what to expect.
Currently, the production of Oshi no Ko Season 2 is in progress.
Additionally, in addition to the anime, there is also a live-action TV show in the works. To ease any concerns, it is being produced by a Japanese company, not Hollywood, and will be distributed by a well-known streaming platform.
Despite the fact that Oshi no Ko’s live-action adaptation is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video on Thursday, November 28, 2024, fans are still expressing some reservations about its release from Japan.
“I will continue to watch the anime. No apologies,”one reply on X/Twitter declares. “We will not be tuning in,”another person adds.
“Wow, this looks amazing,”another fan exclaims in contrast. “Since it’s not on Netflix, I think I’ll at least give it a chance before judging,”adds another fan.
Despite the successes of Cowboy Bebop and Death Note, Netflix has earned the opportunity to adapt more anime and manga. And with the recent success of One Piece, the platform’s efforts have been further validated. The upcoming live-action adaptation of Oshi no Ko is perfectly timed, as the anime continues to gain popularity and the manga nears its conclusion.
The audience is flourishing, making this the perfect time for success. Additionally, the show is just the beginning as a movie is also included in the overall agreement.
Despite acquiring the rights for Neon Genesis Evangelion, Amazon has not made significant progress in the anime industry. It will be intriguing to observe how this impacts the company.
It’s a promising beginning to choose a Japanese adaptation over a potentially more cynical American remake. We’ll discover in November whether this decision pays off! Check out our upcoming anime list for other titles to keep an eye out for.
