Release Date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5

“The upcoming game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is currently being developed by MachineGames, a team under the Bethesda umbrella that is now owned by Microsoft. However, it is possible that this game may still be available for Sony’s PS5 console.”

Despite its announcement being years ago and the last game in the beloved franchise being even further in the past, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is finally starting to take shape.

A substantial exploration of the first-person adventure took place at the beginning of 2024, offering a comprehensive glimpse of its features including combat with a whip, puzzle solving, and ample opportunities for exploration. Although this demonstration was part of an Xbox Dev Direct, could it also become available on other platforms in the near future?

In early 2024, there were speculations about Xbox-exclusive titles possibly being released on other platforms. Here is what is currently known about the potential of The Great Circle being released on PS5.

Release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5

Despite Microsoft’s efforts to push for a PS5 release, there are currently no plans for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to be released on the console.

During the Official Xbox Podcast’s Updates on the Xbox Business episode, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer officially stated that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will not be one of the Xbox titles available on other platforms.

A report from The Verge in February 2024 stated that Microsoft was strongly considering a PS5 launch amidst a tumultuous time for the Xbox. However, fans should not anticipate a simultaneous release, as the PS5 port may not arrive until several months later, possibly in 2025.

Amid a series of reports surrounding Microsoft’s alleged shift in strategy, this announcement quickly spread. Despite falling behind Sony in the hardware competition, Xbox’s revenue is still largely driven by Game Pass and exclusive titles. In an effort to increase software sales, the company is supposedly considering making many of its platform exclusives available on rival consoles.

The Verge published an additional interview with Spencer after the Xbox Podcast. When questioned about the possibility of Indiana Jones being available on PS5, Spencer responded, “I believe it is important for the gaming industry to never dismiss the potential of a game being released on any platform. Currently, our attention is directed towards these four games and gaining valuable insights from the process.”

Among the major Xbox titles that PlayStation owners may soon have access to, from Halo: The Master Chief Collection to Starfield, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is just one more to add to the list.

Significantly, NateTheHate2 further ignited speculation in a post on Twitter/X in August 2024. Despite the absence of an official release date, the leaker suggests that The Great Circle will be released as a timed console exclusive for PC and Xbox in December 2024.

According to the leaker, the release of a PS5 port is expected shortly after. They stated, “Following the end of the timed-exclusive period, Indiana Jones & the Great Circle is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 during the first half of 2025.”

As always, plans can change at any point, so take this information with a grain of salt for the time being. There is no guarantee that the Great Circle will ultimately be released on PS5, as Microsoft may decide to scrap these rumored plans before they come to fruition.

Rest assured, we will continue to provide you with updates as we approach the release of Indiana Jones’ upcoming interactive adventure game.
