What Awaits in Season 4
Delving into the Blackbeard storyline, co-creator Josh Pate shared with **The Hollywood Reporter** that “Blackbeard is a key element of Outer Banks lore, providing plenty of material for us to explore.”
He mentioned that while the character will be featured, it won’t follow a conventional Blackbeard narrative but will incorporate aspects of the tale moving forward.
Expect the Pogues to embark on a quest for Blackbeard’s treasure
Following the 18-month transition, Season 4 will backtrack to the period leading up to that moment. After their discovery of gold in El Dorado, the Pogues aim to establish a “normal” existence in their new sanctuary, referred to as “Poguelandia 2.0.”
Yet, after encountering financial struggles, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo will accept Wes’s invitation, drawing them into another thrilling adventure.
“Soon, they find themselves overwhelmed, facing dangerous new foes who are racing them to the treasure,” the synopsis reveals. “Meanwhile, their growing problems force them to examine their past, present, and future—who they truly are, the value of their journey, and what they’re willing to risk.”
Is Another Season on the Horizon?
While Netflix has not officially greenlit **Outer Banks Season 5**, there is a promising outlook considering each season consistently tops the streaming service’s charts.
In fact, the series saw remarkable success by being the most-watched streaming show in March, amassing **4.6 billion minutes** viewed, according to Nielsen, shortly after its arrival in February 2023.
This type of engagement typically solidifies Netflix’s decision to renew shows, suggesting that if Season 4 performs similarly, a fifth season is likely on the cards.
Furthermore, the creators have indicated they have a wealth of ideas brewing for future storylines. In discussions with Netflix’s Tudum, Josh Pate indicated plans to fill the 18-month gap, describing the first three seasons as a trilogy, and now starting a new chapter. “We’re introducing fresh adversaries, a new treasure hunt, and different life circumstances,”he noted.
As discussions about this fourth chapter unfold, talks of another trilogy are already in early stages. We’ll keep you updated if and when **Outer Banks Season 5** is confirmed.
