Remembering Satoru Gojo: The Future of Jujutsu Kaisen and the Jujutsu Society is Secure

In chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen, Satoru Gojo made an appearance, albeit through a flashback to his living days, thus putting to rest all theories about his imminent comeback. This moment, however, reinforced the idea that the future of the Jujutsu Society rests in the hands of his gifted students, who possess the skills necessary to navigate the challenges ahead, fueled by the teachings of their mentors.

The growth of Itadori Yuji was particularly evident during the climactic showdown with the King of Curses, where he realized that even the strongest individuals are not immune to failure.

Meanwhile, Okkotsu Yuta, having been endowed with a second chance at life, is poised to steer the next generation in the right direction using his jujutsu expertise.

Chapter 271 of Jujutsu Kaisen showcased a pivotal flashback featuring Gojo, the Honored One, during a time when Jujutsu sorcerers participated in switch training. Itadori was set to engage in training with Gojo.

However, Gojo expressed his desire to step back from training duties, intending to leave the future responsibilities to Itadori.

He hoped that, should anything happen to him in the confrontation with Ryomen Sukuna, his students would surpass him in their mastery of jujutsu. Itadori found this sentiment surprising, perceiving Gojo’s attitude as uncharacteristic.

Gojo chuckled at this, reflecting that this was the first time he felt such confidence in his students.

Recognized as the strongest sorcerer of his era, Satoru Gojo’s arrival transformed the dynamics of the world of cursed spirits, which had previously acted without fear. His existence marked a significant change in this reality.

As a student at Jujutsu High, Gojo honed his ability to manipulate cursed energy, leading to his increased strength.

However, following his awakening during the initial encounter with Toji, he became nearly unbeatable.

This new status naturally positioned him as the protector of the Jujutsu Society, where he understood the high expectations placed upon him. Consequently, he sought out promising apprentices.

His first pupil, Okkotsu Yuta, is a special-grade sorcerer who faced curses from the Queen of Curses. Gojo exposed him to the dynamics of their class, teaching him the intricacies of cursed energy manipulation.

Yuta overcame his curse with Rika, his cursed technique, demonstrating significant growth throughout the climactic fight with Sukuna.

Itadori Yuji followed as the second apprentice; initially lacking a natural affinity for cursed energy, he learned the ropes under Gojo’s mentorship while being shielded due to his role as Sukuna’s host.

Itadori became the student Gojo held the most hope for, fulfilling expectations by leading to Sukuna’s defeat.

Final thoughts

The fanbase seemed to overlook the necessity for Gojo to relinquish his concerns for the Jujutsu Society as they clamored for his return. Clearly, he had reached a point where he needed to step back, having nurtured a selection of formidable young talents destined to become exceptional leaders, as evidenced by their performance in the ultimate battle against Sukuna.
