The Silent Hill 2 Remake has launched on PC, offering a breathtaking reimagining of the beloved 2001 PlayStation 2 classic. Developed by Bloober Team, this version pays homage to the original by Team Silent, while also introducing several quality-of-life enhancements for contemporary players. Despite the overall excellence of the PC version, it’s notable that the cutscenes are constrained to a frustrating 30 FPS. Fortunately, a patch created by Rose from the widescreen community can eliminate this framerate limitation for the cutscenes in the Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Unlocking the 30 FPS Limit in Silent Hill 2 Remake Cutscenes
This patch released by Rose explicitly addresses the FPS restriction and successfully removes the 30 FPS limit imposed by the developers during cutscenes in Silent Hill 2 Remake.

- Download the patch by selecting Silent.Hill.2.Remake.FPS.unlocker.v1.0.zip found under assets
- Extract the downloaded file into the following directory where the Silent Hill 2 Remake is installed:
\SHProto\Binaries\Win64\
After installation, simply launch the game, and you will now experience cutscenes with an unlocked framerate, just like the rest of the gameplay.
Special thanks to Rose for developing and testing this patch at resolutions of 1920×1200, 2560×1080, and 3840×1080. Currently, there are no known issues with the patch, and its performance is seamless.
If you ever decide to uninstall the patch, simply remove the following files from the Win64 directory:
dsound.dllSilentHill2RemakeFPSRose.asi
The reasoning behind the developers’ choice of a 30 FPS cap for cutscenes remains unclear. They might have aimed to prevent performance concerns from affecting the cutscenes’ consistency. Ideally, a toggle allowing players to decide would have been more beneficial, as most mid-range to high-end graphics cards could effortlessly handle the cutscenes.
To enhance your gaming experience further, we suggest disabling chromatic aberration in Silent Hill 2 Remake for a more refined visual presentation with sharper imagery.
