The finale of Season 3 of Resident Alien has passed and there is currently no update on a potential Season 4. However, there are rumors that the show may leave Syfy.
Fans of Resident Alien anxiously await news on whether the Chris Sheridan series will be renewed for another season, as there is still a wealth of storyline left to be explored. However, as reported by Deadline, the show may find a new home if Syfy chooses not to continue it.
Syfy has previously relinquished control to another network, making this a familiar situation. Chucky, their original series, was initially exclusive to Syfy but later began sharing airing rights with USA Network. It is possible that Resident Alien will follow suit.
However, there is one drawback to this possibility. Should USA Network choose to renew Resident Alien for a fourth season, it would come with a significant budget reduction of up to $500,000 per episode. This is due to the fact that USA Network is a cable television network and has historically operated with more conservative budgets for its shows.
In regards to Netflix, if USA Network is no longer an option, UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, is willing to present the series to Netflix for consideration.
The first two seasons of Resident Alien are currently available for streaming on Netflix, while the third season is not yet released. This could potentially indicate that Netflix will also acquire the rights to the fourth season. In the past, Netflix has successfully obtained other original series from USA Network, such as Monk.
Resident Alien chronicles the journey of an alien who becomes marooned on Earth during a mission to annihilate it. In order to gather the necessary components to escape, he adopts the guise of a human known as Harry Vanderspeigle. As time passes, he develops a fondness for the residents of the quaint Colorado town.
In addition, he discovers a covert group, the presence of additional extraterrestrials, their intentions for the planet, and an infant alien. As the third season of Resident Alien concludes, the future of the cherished characters remains uncertain, setting the stage for a potential fourth season.
The sci-fi series Resident Alien can be found on Syfy, with Seasons 1-2 also available for streaming on Netflix. Additionally, there are other series to choose from for the month of streaming.
