Resolve Delta Force Stuttering Problems on AMD Graphics Cards

Delta Force performs well on PC, particularly with NVIDIA graphics cards. Users with these GPUs typically experience minimal or no stuttering, thanks to the optimized Unreal Engine environment. However, players using AMD graphics cards have reported significant stuttering issues. The developers are aware of this concern and have provided interim solutions to enhance gameplay for AMD users.

Resolving Stuttering Issues on AMD GPUs in Delta Force

To tackle the stuttering occurring on AMD GPUs while playing Delta Force, the recommended approach is to downgrade your GPU drivers. Specifically, you should install either version 24.10.1 or 24.8.1. This adjustment will resolve stutter problems until AMD rolls out an official fix or update. This solution comes directly from the developers:

Steps to Downgrade GPU Drivers

To begin with the driver rollback, you need to remove the currently installed GPU drivers. The most effective method is to utilize the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), as it ensures complete removal. Alternatively, you can navigate to the “Add or Remove Programs” section in Windows to uninstall the drivers.

Once the drivers are uninstalled, download one of the suggested driver versions directly from the AMD website:

After successfully downloading and installing the drivers, you should experience a smoother gameplay experience. Be sure to refrain from updating to the latest drivers in the meantime, as they may reintroduce the stuttering issue.

It appears that the developers are closely communicating with AMD regarding this issue. Notably, there have been no stuttering issues reported on NVIDIA graphics cards. As an RTX 4070 Super user, I can confirm that Delta Force runs remarkably well, without any noticeable stuttering, even after extended gameplay sessions. It’s somewhat surprising, given that Unreal Engine has a reputation for these kinds of problems, yet here it seems to be largely unaffected.

The game features a substantial shader compilation period at startup, which has been functioning correctly, particularly for NVIDIA users.

Adjusting Graphics Settings

If your system isn’t on the higher end, it’s advisable to steer clear of the Extreme graphics preset, as it can lead to increased stuttering. Additionally, if you find yourself limited by VRAM, consider reducing texture settings to mitigate any potential performance issues.

General Troubleshooting Tips

In addition to the above steps, here are some general troubleshooting suggestions that may enhance your gameplay experience:

  • Ensure that you update DirectX and Visual C++ Redistributables.
  • If you’re using a laptop, switch to your dedicated GPU for better performance.
  • Ensure that Media Codes for Windows N Editions are updated.
  • Keep your Windows operating system updated to the latest version.
  • To verify that all game files are intact, follow these steps in Steam:
    • Open Steam and go to your Library.
    • Right-click on Delta Force and select Properties.
    • In the Installed Files section, click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Despite the stuttering issues, don’t forget to claim your pre-registration rewards in Delta Force for valuable customization items and resources for the Warfare and Operations mode.
