Resolve Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Ultrawide Display Problems on PC

Lauded as one of the standout titles of the year, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has made a successful transition to PC, thanks to MachineGames utilizing the powerful id Tech 7 engine. This game offers exceptional support for ultrawide and super ultrawide monitor configurations throughout both gameplay and cutscenes. However, players have noticed a minor drawback: the field of view (FOV) tends to appear slightly zoomed in during cutscenes. Fortunately, a dedicated patch developed by modder Lyall effectively addresses this issue, providing a swift solution for enthusiasts seeking the optimal experience on modern PCs.

Resolving the Ultrawide Cutscene Issue in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

The recently released patch specifically targets the zoomed-in FOV problem occurring during cutscenes when the game is played on ultrawide displays.

Installing the patch is quite straightforward. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  • Visit the GitHub release page and download the GreatCircleFix_v0.0.2.zip file from the Assets section.
  • Once downloaded, extract the contents into the directory where Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is installed:
    • For Xbox App users: XboxGames\Indiana Jones and the Great Circle\Content
    • For Steam users: steamapps\common\The Great Circle

That’s all there is to it! When you restart the game, you will notice that the FOV during cutscenes has been adjusted to better match regular resolutions. Lyall has generously shared a screenshot demonstrating the improved FOV:

Beyond correcting the ultrawide FOV, the patch introduces several additional enhancements:

  • Enables unrestricted console commands.
  • Allows modification of read-only console commands.
  • Offers the ability to skip introductory videos.

These features ensure that adjustments made to the level of detail (LOD) during gameplay are retained, resolving a common frustration experienced with developer commands.

Kudos to Lyall for developing and rigorously testing this tool. To revert to the original settings, simply remove the extracted files.

The support for ultrawide monitors is commendable, and the minor adjustment significantly enhances the gaming experience. Given the extensive nature of the day-one patch, it is quite possible that future updates from the developers will incorporate this fix natively.

For further enjoyment of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, players now have the option to bypass intro videos and access their local progress smoothly.
