If you’re playing Frostpunk 2, you may have encountered the frustrating ‘Storage Limit Reached’ error, even when it seems like there’s available space. This issue often arises due to the limitations of Coal Thumpers and their accumulated resources. In this guide, I will share effective strategies to resolve the ‘Storage Limit Reached’ error in Frostpunk 2, detailing all necessary steps to optimize your resource management.
Frostpunk 2: Resolving the ‘Storage Limit Reached’ Error
As I previously mentioned, the key to this issue lies within the Coal Thumpers that gather resources into piles (560 Coal Piles/10h), which have defined limits. If your setup lacks adequate Gathering Posts for the output of your Coal Thumpers, you may run into the ‘Storage Limit Reached’ error. This situation can occur even when your overall storage capacity hasn’t been fully utilized. To remedy this, follow this practical rule: ensure that you have a minimum of four Gathering Posts for every two Thumpers to facilitate effective resource collection and prevent excess buildup.
You might wonder why the error occurs. Each pile generated by Coal Thumpers possesses a maximum size, which represents the storage limitation dictated by the game. To produce additional resources, you can manually remove excess coal or other materials from the piles. While hiring more workers can help in clearing these resources, utilizing Gathering Posts is a more efficient solution for automating the process. You can construct Gathering Posts using the following materials from the “Resources” menu:
- 15x Wood
- 5x Steel
As your city expands and resource demands rise, it’s worthwhile to invest in additional storage solutions, like Resource Depots or Large Resource Depots. These vital structures can also be found in the “Resources” menu and require the following resources to construct:
- Resource Depot:
- 40x Wood
- 20x Steel
- Large Resource Depot:
- 150x Wood
- 75x Steel
