Resolving the Diablo 4 Steam Language Change Problem

The highly anticipated expansion for Diablo 4, titled Vessel of Hatred, has officially launched for both PC and consoles. Accompanying this expansion are a host of adjustments to the main game including fresh features, new items, extensive balancing, and various quality-of-life enhancements. However, like many significant updates, it has also sparked some technical glitches. A common concern that players may encounter involves changing the game language on Steam; if you’re struggling with this, we have a solution.

Resolving the Diablo 4 Language Change Issue on Steam

Should you find that adjusting the in-game language in Diablo 4 on Steam has become impossible, employing a launch command is a temporary workaround.

  • Open your Steam library, then right-click on Diablo IV.
  • Choose Properties.
  • In the General tab, look for Launch Options and enter -locale followed by one of the language codes listed below:

Language codes:enUSesESesMXfrFRitITdeDEkoKRptBRruRUzhCNzhTWplPLjaJPtrTR-locale <language_code>

  • For instance, to start Diablo IV in Spanish, you would enter:

-locale esES

  • This is how it should appear in the launch options:
None

Once entered, launching the game will switch the in-game audio to the selected language based on the code provided.

For the time being, this is the simplest method to modify the audio language without needing to alter configuration files manually. We sincerely hope that the developers acknowledge this recurring issue, as it poses challenges for players who prefer languages other than the default, impacting their gaming experience.

After diving into the Vessel of Hatred expansion, don’t forget to explore how to recruit mercenaries in Diablo IV, a feature introduced in this latest update.
