Final Fantasy XVI has officially launched on PC, marking another significant addition to the acclaimed Final Fantasy series. The PC version provides a mixed experience, but it features a variety of settings for customization and supports modern upscaling technologies like DLSS. However, it’s surprising that there is no adequate ultrawide support for this major PC release. Fortunately, Lyall from the widescreen community has developed a patch to enable ultrawide support in Final Fantasy XVI. This guide details how to install it.
How to Fix the Final Fantasy XVI Ultrawide Support Issue on PC
Lyall’s patch offers ultrawide and narrow display support, eliminates black bars, and modifies the field of view (FOV) in Final Fantasy XVI.
As with previous patches from Lyall, the installation process is straightforward. Just follow these steps:
- Visit the following GitHub link
- Download the patch file by clicking FFXVIFix_v0.7.5.zip listed under Assets
- Extract the zip file into the game’s installation folder
steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XVI
That’s all it takes! The next time you launch Final Fantasy XVI, it will display correctly in ultrawide mode. Below is a comparison screenshot shared by Lyall:
Currently, there are a few minor issues with the patch that Lyall has noted:
- During certain cinematic sequences, parts of the game world may be visible in the background at ultrawide/narrow aspect ratios.
- The FOV is cropped at settings below <16:9
You can make further adjustments by editing the FFXVIFix.ini file with a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.
