On September 3rd, Shin Woo-seok, director of Dolphiners Films, reiterated his stance on the issue by sharing a statement on his social media account in response to ADOR’s statement.
Director Shin emphasized that the three companies involved in the production have reaffirmed their agreement to release the director’s cut on the Dolphiners Films channel for the fans during a recent phone call.
According to Shin, the current management at ADOR is making false allegations that Dolphiners Films released the director’s cut without permission. He raised concerns about their tactics of involving unrelated third parties in their media statement, stating, “Why are they resorting to such manipulation?”and condemning it as a breach of unspoken rules in the advertising industry and a betrayal of fundamental business trust.
Shin elaborated that ADOR had specifically requested the removal of the videos, stating that any content containing ADOR’s rights could only be shared on authorized accounts and not on third-party channels.
“He pointed out that on Sunday evening, the company had warned that if the videos were not removed by Monday morning, they would issue a formal notice to Dolphin Kidnapper and require double the service fee as a penalty. However, it appears that they were previously unaware of the Ban Hee-soo channel’s existence until the videos were deleted.”
Shin was perplexed and asked, “Why would I, as a director, destroy my own work? The Ban Hee-soo channel was an extension of my film ‘Ditto’, and I had created it out of my own volition, without any remuneration for my fans. So, are they now insinuating that I deleted everything without any reason?”
Despite ADOR’s unreasonable demands which went against the original agreement, Dolphiners Films remained dedicated to creating a high-quality music video and took on the project without compensation, all for the sake of their fans’ enjoyment. However, despite their hard work and dedication, ADOR ultimately deleted the videos.
Shin concluded by questioning, “What prompted ADOR to label Dolphin Kidnapper as a contract violator and spread false information without knowing the original agreement? Is it because of my petition, refusal to create a music video for HYBE, or their attempt to eliminate NewJeans? Let us not distort the truth through manipulative media tactics. However, I have no doubt that they will continue their attempts.”
The director of NewJeans, Shin Woo-seok, who has directed popular music videos such as “Ditto”and “ETA”, recently disclosed that ADOR had requested the removal of NewJeans-related videos from the YouTube channels of Dolphiners Films and Ban Hee-soo, and also imposed a ban on future releases.
In reaction, ADOR released a statement on their official Twitter account on the morning of the 3rd. The statement clarified that the director’s cut of the “ETA”music video, which was shared on Dolphin Kidnapper’s SNS channel, was an altered version that contained material that had been previously disputed with the advertiser. Furthermore, it was uploaded without the advertiser’s consent.
Despite the controversy, NewJeans fans were disappointed and confused by ADOR’s decision. This was especially true since the Ban Hee-soo channel, run by Dolphin Kidnapper, was named after the NewJeans fan club, Bunnies, and served as a communal space for both the group and their fans.
