In chapter 256 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the main character Yuji Itadori experienced his Awakening. This major event leads to speculation that Yuji may exceed his mentor Satoru Gojo and become the most powerful Jujutsu Sorcerer. Fortunately, there are indications that support this possibility.
The preceding chapter of the manga witnessed the addition of Miguel and Larue to the battle, which ultimately enabled Yuji, Maki, and Choso to reenter the fight.
Upon witnessing the latest developments, Yuji began to speculate that they may have a chance at defeating the King of Curses. At that moment, the manga foreshadowed Sukuna’s imminent return to full control over his Reverse Cursed Energy.
Please note: This article includes spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
Will Yuji Itadori surpass Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 256?
According to chapter 256, Yuji Itadori experienced an awakening while battling against the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. Similarly, Satoru Gojo also had an awakening during the Premature Death Arc after being effectively killed by Toji Fushiguro. However, he was able to heal himself using the Reverse Cursed Technique and return to confront Toji.
On the other hand, while Yuji’s awakening showed a clear understanding of his goals, Gojo appeared to be under the influence while battling Toji.
One Jujutsu Kaisen fan on Reddit, u/LocalPlatypus994, speculated that this could be related to Gojo’s Six Eyes and Domain Expansion.
Upon Gojo’s awakening, his eyes seemed to go into overdrive, granting him access to a multitude of information through his Six Eyes in a mere instant, resembling a miniature version of Domain Expansion Unlimited Void. Shortly after, Gojo regained his composure, suggesting that his Six Eyes had settled down.
Despite the possibility that Yuji is experiencing a similar phase, he may have achieved clarity unlike Gojo who appeared to be under the influence. The manga also alluded to this through Yuji’s eyes, which resembled those of Ryomen Sukuna’s.
Despite this, the manga did establish that Yuji had an awakening, but it did not disclose his potential abilities after the awakening.
After witnessing multiple instances of Black Flash in the previous chapter and learning about its technique in chapter 256, it is highly likely that Yuji Itadori’s Awakening is connected to Black Flash.
Based on the manga’s indication that Yuji would eventually surpass Gojo’s Black Flash record, it is plausible that his Awakening would grant him the ability to produce an unlimited number of Black Flashes.
Despite the unlikelihood, there is still a possibility that Yuji may gain an advantage in activating the technique.
Alternatively, it is also plausible that Yuji Itadori’s manifestation in chapter 256 could be connected to his Domain Expansion. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has presented multiple instances of Domain Expansions throughout its series.
Despite this, Yuji, the protagonist, has not yet utilized this technique. However, considering the low likelihood of the manga ending without showcasing Yuji’s Domain Expansion, it can be presumed that his Awakening would aid him in mastering this technique.
The same logic can be applied to compare Yuji and Gojo as well. Since Gojo has passed away, Yuji, the boy who Gojo believed could surpass him, now has a chance to surpass him with his most recent Awakening.
