Return of Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Wilds Boosted by Official Merchandise Reveal

<p>Fans of Monster Hunter Wilds are buzzing with excitement over a new wave of official merchandise, which they believe hints at the long-awaited return of the aquatic monster, Lagiacrus.

Lagiacrus has been absent from Monster Hunter since the release of Generations Ultimate on the Switch back in 2017. Originally slated to make a comeback in Monster Hunter World, animation issues compelled Capcom to remove it from the game’s final roster, leading to disappointment among many players eager to engage with the Thunder Leviathan.

As the release date for Wilds nears on February 28, 2025, fans are on the lookout for any indications of Lagiacrus returning to the fray.

Recently, new 20th Anniversary merchandise has heightened interest around the possibility of Lagiacrus being added to the roster.

Fans have taken to X to share images of a fresh range of official Monster Hunter-themed cushions. The franchise is known for releasing an array of merchandise, from bicycles to Fatalis gaming chairs, and the new Lagiacrus cushion sports a unique logo design that has many hopeful for the monster’s return.

That said, Monster Hunter influencer Kogath advises fans to temper their expectations.

This cushion has sparked hope among Lagiacrus enthusiasts.

“Yes, the icon looks different, but it’s merely merchandise celebrating the 20th Anniversary featuring the top three monsters from the community’s Top Monster poll. It doesn’t even align with the icon style for Monster Hunter Wilds,” Kogath stated.

This news may be disheartening for fans searching for any hints regarding Lagiacrus’ revival, but there’s evidence of something more substantial beyond a cushion. The Monster Hunter Wilds Summer Games Fest trailer introduced Balahara—a desert-dwelling leviathan that uses its serpentine body to glide through the sand.

While Balahara appears significantly smaller than Lagiacrus, it exhibits intricate animations and highly agile attacks. Its serpentine design closely resembles that of the iconic Lord of the Seas. So, although the Lagiacrus cushion may simply be a merchandising item, one of Wilds’ new monsters could solidify a more compelling theory about Lagiacrus’ return.
