Vanilla Destiny 2 Strike, The Inverted Spire, is set to receive a significant overhaul with the launch of Episode Revenant on October 8.
Having been available since the game’s release in 2017, this Vanguard Strike has become outdated due to years of power creep and advancements in gameplay design. Bungie confirmed in their This Week in Destiny (TWID) on October 3 that it will be “back with a Vex-geance.”
“Not that it ever left,” the developer elaborated, revealing that a “new narrative” will replace the current storylines, with the Vex taking center stage as the primary enemy.
While Bungie has been tight-lipped about specific mechanical changes to the Strike, they hinted that the Vex will possess “horrible defenses and new units.” Notably, Wyverns, which inspired the Choir of One, were mentioned, indicating that players should prepare for a more formidable challenge than before.
This update to The Inverted Spire isn’t the first time Bungie has refreshed older Destiny 2 Strikes. Strikes such as The Lake of Shadows and The Arms Dealer were revamped in 2023 with the launch of Lightfall, receiving a mixed reaction, particularly from fans of the original versions.
Bungie has refreshed various older Strikes in the game, including The Lake of Shadows.
Neither of the previous Strikes saw the introduction of new loot; instead, they presented encounter tweaks. For instance, Lake of Shadows added an escort objective during the first half, derived from the Witch Queen‘s Vow of the Disciple Raid. Players can expect similar pacing and objective alterations for The Inverted Spire.
From what has been revealed so far, Episode Revenant appears to be richer in content compared to Echoes, which launched alongside The Final Shape in June.
The Revenant episode will launch on October 8, while the new Dungeon, Vesper’s Host, is set to come out the following Friday, October 11.
