Revealed: Joe Locke’s Role in Agatha All Along as ‘Teen’ Character

Some astute Marvel enthusiasts may believe they’ve deduced the identity of Joe Locke’s character in Agatha All Along, but could they be overlooking a crucial aspect of the mystery?

Agatha All Along, the follow-up series to the MCU’s critically acclaimed WandaVision, has recently premiered its first two episodes. The audience is invited to accompany the eponymous witch as she embarks on her quest to reclaim the powers that Wanda Maximoff has taken from her.

Although Agatha’s mission to traverse the witches’ road appears straightforward, it’s brimming with significant peril. Fortunately, she will be accompanied by a group of witches, including a cryptic teenage boy (Joe Locke), whose true identity remains a mystery even to Agatha herself.

However, some dedicated MCU supporters think they’ve figured out who this Teen is, with many believing he is Billy Kaplan, known as Wiccan, one of the twin sons of Wanda and Vision.

The first two episodes contain several clues that suggest Locke may indeed be portraying the young male witch.

For starters, when Teen and Agatha are driving while searching for a coven to join them on the witches’ road, he receives a call from his adorable (yet nameless) boyfriend.

Billy ranks among the few openly gay characters in the Marvel Universe. In the comics, he came out to his mother, the Scarlet Witch, as a teenager and subsequently developed a relationship with Teddy Altman, also known as Hulkling.

Secondly, Teen is pivotal in enabling Agatha to escape the curse that Wanda had placed on her before departing Westview.

When we first meet Agatha, she is trapped in a “fractured spell,”leading her to believe she is a seasoned detective trying to solve the murder of a woman crushed to death.

The plot thickens as it becomes evident that the case relates to Wanda and the events portrayed at the conclusion of Doctor Strange 2. Before Agatha can delve deeper into these details, she is interrupted by a teenage boy breaking into her home.

During their confrontation in a police interrogation room, Agatha interrogates the troubled teen, who begins reciting a spell in Latin, ultimately breaking Agatha from her spell.

Once back in reality, Agatha praises Teen’s abilities, stating it seems extraordinary that someone his age could lift a curse imposed by the Scarlet Witch — arguably the strongest witch in the universe.

If he indeed is Wanda’s son, Teen (Billy) would have likely studied his mother’s magic. This knowledge would enable him to counteract her spells and free Agatha from her curse.

Finally, Teen remains ambiguous about his requests at the end of the witches’ road. For the rest of the group, their intentions are clear: they seek power, riches, and answers to age-old questions.

However, Teen dodges Agatha’s inquiries about his desires, which raises the question: is he concealing his true motive of resurrecting his mother, Wanda?

Episodes 1 and 2 of Agatha All Along have established that Teen’s identity is obscured from both viewers and the characters within the story, leaving fans to speculate whether he is, in fact, one of Wanda’s children.

But what if Teen isn’t Wiccan?

There’s an intriguing theory suggesting that Teen may not be Billy Kaplan at all, but rather Agatha’s only son, Nicholas Scratch.

This idea might seem far-fetched based on the first two episodes, but hear us out.

So far, we know that Agatha had a son at some point, as indicated by the children’s drawings and awards found in her fractured mind.

While Nicholas’s interests, like drawing or singing, might be imagined, the profound bond he shared with Agatha is genuine.

When Teen and Agatha seek out Jennifer Kale, the potions witch, Jennifer accuses Agatha of being a “child killer,” which deeply unsettles Agatha.

Without revealing too much, it’s possible that Agatha sacrificed Nicholas to further her own ambitions, and he may now seek revenge.

Though Teen appears to be a typical teenager, Nicholas Scratch from the comics is portrayed as a formidable sorcerer, perhaps having sent his younger self on a quest to vanquish his mother.

Nicholas also commands a sinister group of children known as Salem’s Seven, who attack Agatha in Episode 2 but seem to avoid harming Teen during their confrontation. This could indicate a familial bond that prevents them from attacking him.

The witches’ road is rumored to grant wishes to anyone who treads its path. What if Nicholas has manipulated Agatha into taking this journey to accumulate enough power to destroy her for her past betrayal?

While this theory may seem improbable at the moment, the MCU has never shied away from complex and tumultuous family dynamics, so anything is possible.

New episodes of Agatha All Along premiere every Wednesday at 9 PM EST/6 PM PT. For further insights, check out our recaps of Episode 1 and Episode 2.
