There are numerous jokes throughout Deadpool & Wolverine, likely the reason why this jab at the creator of the Merc With a Mouth, Rob Liefeld, may have gone unnoticed.
In 1991, Liefeld collaborated with writer Fabian Nicieza to bring the character of Deadpool to life. Without Liefeld’s contribution, the beloved character would not exist, resulting in a major loss, especially considering that the first two Deadpool movies have become some of the top-grossing R-rated films globally.
Despite this, the new movie took the opportunity to make a subtle jab at the character’s creator. The joke may have been overlooked amidst the numerous cameos, but it can be seen in the background as a store called Liefeld’s Just Feet.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Liefeld shared that he had been informed in advance about the inclusion of the joke, stating that he was “laughing hysterically”when Marvel’s business affairs team contacted him, adding that they were also laughing.
I FEEL SCENE – so many folks stop and mention this signage to me, I saw a few forums discussing it online, so here’s the deal, last July, before the strike hit and production stopped, David Bogart, who many know from Marvel comics, called me and asked me for permission to use… pic.twitter.com/DvxdpC7KhB

The joke originated from the popular online joke that Liefeld is incapable of drawing feet, and is unwilling to do so. In his artwork, characters’ feet are often hidden or concealed by other items, or not shown at all.
The storefront was briefly showcased in the trailer and serves as the focal point for a major battle scene in the finale of Deadpool & Wolverine.
Liefeld has been previously mentioned in films before. In Deadpool 2, the profane protagonist makes a quip about a “certain individual who struggles with drawing feet.”
During an early conversation with Kevin Feige, Liefeld was informed that not only would the feet joke be included, but that Deadpool Corps, specifically Dogpool, would also play a significant role.
“According to Liefeld, Dogpool’s appeal is irresistible. He believes that Dogpool is a step up from characters like Groot and Rocket Raccoon, stating, “I even mentioned that the potential for merchandise alone is reason enough to pursue this project.”
