Revisiting the Predictions on T-ARA Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun’s Divorce

On October 7th, entertainment outlets reported that discussions surrounding the discord between Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun had begun circulating in an online forum as early as January. An anonymous user, referred to as A, expressed concerns, stating, “Their frequent arguments make me question whether they’ll ever find happiness… I wouldn’t be surprised if divorce rumors surface soon.”

On October 5th, Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun made their divorce official. A spokesperson from Jiyeon’s legal team, Taeseong Law Firm, announced, “After struggling to resolve their differences, both parties have reached a mutual agreement to divorce and have filed for divorce mediation with the Seoul Family Court to initiate the proceedings.”

In a message relayed by her legal counsel, Jiyeon expressed her regret in sharing such unfortunate news, stating, “I apologize for the circumstances. We have mutually decided to enter divorce mediation. I appreciate your patience as we work through this process, and I aim to better myself moving forward.”

Meanwhile, Hwang Jae-gyun commented, “First and foremost, I extend my apologies to our dedicated fans for this disappointing update. After much reflection, Jiyeon and I have chosen to separate due to differing personalities. We have filed for divorce mediation with the Seoul Family Court and are committed to resolving this amicably.”

The couple had announced their relationship in February 2022 after a six-month courtship and married in December of the same year. Earlier in June, speculation regarding their divorce had arisen during a baseball broadcast by KNN, a local channel serving the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, although at that time, Jiyeon’s representatives had dismissed the rumors as unfounded.
