RIIZE Criticized for ‘Disrespectful’ Actions During BND Livestream — ‘Avoid Making Others Feel Uncomfortable’

K-netizens have voiced their criticism towards RIIZE following a livestream appearance alongside fellow boy group BND, citing their lackluster attitude as the reason for the controversy.

On June 20, a post titled ‘RIIZE’s reaction during the Daechinso livestream was deemed very disappointing’ gained popularity on the Korean forum Pann Nate. The post featured a short video clip from the livestream, which has now accumulated over 3 million views.

During the video, BND’s Jaehyun enthusiastically introduced RIIZE’s latest song, commending its stunning visuals and captivating music. Despite this, RIIZE’s lack of response resulted in an uncomfortable atmosphere, leading Jaehyun to turn to RIIZE’s Sohee for assistance.

Despite some netizens defending RIIZE’s behavior and arguing that they are introverts and the atmosphere improved later, the video still sparked a flood of negative comments. However, these voices were in the minority.

Listed below are a few comments from internet users:

  • “This is the first time I’ve seen idols not reacting when someone else is promoting their song. Being introverted has nothing to do with it. If you can’t do something interesting, at least try to react and don’t make others feel awkward like that.”
  • “If you watch the entire livestream, you’ll see many moments like the one in the video. Myung Jaehyun is truly an amazing person. I will support him in the future.”
  • “Whether you’re introverted or not, you should at least react when on camera. Not helping someone promoting your song and just standing there can lead to attitude controversies.”
  • “This group (RIIZE) should just stick together and not interact with others to avoid causing discomfort.”
  • “Guys calm down, it’s just a cut from a long video, RIIZE probably thought that Jaehyun was still talking and was waiting for him to finish.”
  • “I believe the atmosphere gets comfortable later on, so the insults here are unwarranted. While it’s sad to see RIIZE being called rude, I must admit the group lacks awareness and sensitivity. They really need to practice their reactions.”
  • Moving Forward

Despite ongoing criticism, it is yet to be determined how RIIZE will tackle these issues and make efforts to enhance their public engagement.
