Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 5 is set to avoid a significant storyline that fans feel has been “Rhûning”the show, much to their relief.
The series features four prominent plot lines: Galadriel and Elrond’s quest to Eregion, Celebrimbor with Annatar (also known as Sauron) creating the iconic rings, the Dwarves of Khazad-dûm working to restore light within the mountain, and the journey of the Stranger and Nori to Rhûn.
The latter storyline has stirred mixed reactions, primarily because it relies heavily on the enigma surrounding the Stranger’s identity (widely believed to be Gandalf), rather than focusing on the Dark Lord or the rings themselves.
With the premiere of Season 2 Episode 5 approaching, there is promising news: a recent cast update from IMDb for Episode 5 indicates that the episode will center around the narratives of the Dwarves, Celebrimbor, Annatar, and Númenor, while excluding the Rhûn storyline.

According to IMDb, Episode 5 will feature key characters such as Durin, Disa, Celebrimbor, Sauron, Pharazôn, Elendil, and Adar, but the Stranger, Nori, Poppy, and Tom Bombadil are notably absent from the list.
“Our prayers have been answered my friends… let’s goooo,” one user commented in the show’s subreddit. Another user expressed, “The Rhûn storyline is definitely used (right now) as padding/filler. It’s enjoyable but so little is happening that it is a big distraction.”
“Sad because I really enjoyed Tom Bombadil but happy because we need more plot development in other areas,” noted another viewer.
“I’m much more mixed on Season 2, and the Harfoot and Stranger storyline is the main reason. If they keep spending time on Harfoots at the expense of the primary plot points, it might drive me away from the show entirely,” another fan added.
