Roblox Launches New ‘Party’ Feature Similar to Discord for Enhanced Friend Gameplay

The RDC 2024 event was filled with exciting announcements as developers unveiled new features for the Roblox gaming platform. One notable addition is the introduction of the Party feature. With millions of players engaging on Roblox daily, the platform recognized the need for a dedicated communication space. The forthcoming Party feature aims to address this need.

The Party feature will enable users to create groups with friends for text chatting, voice communication, and joining favorite experiences with just one tap. This functionality is reminiscent of popular VoIP applications like Discord.

It’s noteworthy that only users aged 9 and above will be able to participate in a party. Roblox has confirmed that the feature will begin with text chat, followed by the addition of voice communication. The best news is that Party will be fully implemented by the end of this year, allowing players to take full advantage of its capabilities.

This innovative feature also benefits Roblox developers, granting them the ability to teleport Party members to the same starting point, place them in a private lobby, or pre-arrange them into teams by integrating it into their games. This functionality will be facilitated through an API expected to launch next year.

Similar to Discord, the Party feature will include an overlay during gameplay that displays who is speaking in the channel, along with shortcuts for quick actions. While not officially confirmed, it is anticipated that the Party feature will first be available on Android and iOS platforms, as demonstrated during the RDC event.
