Roblox YouTuber KreekCraft calls out new DMCA system after custom hat takedown

KreekCraft, a popular Roblox YouTuber, is criticizing the platform’s new DMCA regulations after his signature hat was taken down from the UGC marketplace.

KreekCraft is widely recognized as one of the top Roblox content creators. Along with fellow YouTuber Karl Jacobs, he runs PXL Playground, a company that develops a variety of Roblox games and hosts competitions.

Despite being known for his UGC content, including his popular signature Hat accessory that has been loved and worn by his fans for more than four years, Kreek has recently faced a DMCA strike resulting in the removal of the headgear from the UGC marketplace on Roblox.

KreekCraft announced the update through a post on Twitter, revealing to followers that their hat on Roblox had been removed due to a DMCA copyright claim. They expressed concern that either Roblox had filed the claim themselves or someone was taking advantage of the new DMCA system.

This is a result of Roblox’s recent implementation of a new DMCA and moderation system, which also allows more creators to sell their creations in the Marketplace. Although the sudden takedown was unexpected for Kreek’s audience, the YouTuber has expressed disapproval towards the platform’s new approach, and many fans have echoed the same sentiment.

A user expressed their opinion, stating, “The system is being completely abused because your design is not protected by copyright.”Another user commented, “Even the GOAT is not immune to this craziness.”A third user mentioned, “It is likely related to Roblox, as they have explicitly stated that no Roblox logos are allowed on accessories, and your design contained one.”

Despite occasional criticism of Roblox’s moderation system, smaller creators are now worried about the future of their user-generated content (UGC), as it is a vital part of their thriving economy. Fortunately, KreekCraft’s strong reputation and influence may be able to help him quickly restore his UGC in the marketplace.
